Susanne Pietsch

Susanne Pietsch is an architect and designer based in Rotterdam. She is interested in architecture as an expression of collaborative action and material culture, especially in the aspect of craftsmanship and physical participation in design. Her projects operate at the intersection of design, research and production of architectural projects, interiors, exhibitions, furniture, and objects.

Since 2006 she has been a lecturer in the Interiors Buildings Cities group at the Faculty of Architecture at TU Delft, where she teaches and coordinates parts of the master’s programme. She is co-author of the publications Walls that Teach (Jap Sam Books, 2014), which traces the ideological manifestations of educational architecture of youth centres in the 20th century, and The New Craft School (Jap Sam Books, 2018), a book about built and possible scenarios for the vocational school and its role in society.
