Erik Wieërs

Erik Wieërs, born in 1963, studied architecture at the University of Antwerp and philosophy at the Free University of Brussels. He worked as an architect in various design firms and was a founding partner of Huiswerk architects. In 2011, he co-founded Collectief Noord Architects, based in the Antwerp Seefhoek district. He is a guest professor at the Faculty of Design Sciences at the University of Antwerp, Department of Architecture. He has also taught at the Technical University of Delft and served as a member of the Design Review Board in Antwerp. He was appointed as the Flemish Government Architect from August 2020 to July 2025. Erik Wieërs is interested in the societal dimension of architecture and has built expertise in areas such as collective housing throughout his career.
